Why sign up for our Beginners program?

A lot of students, past and present have previously mentioned how intimidated or anxious they felt before attending their first class. Sometimes they feel they don’t know anything at all and that they might embarrass themselves at class, or maybe they are not fit enough or young enough to take up a ‘martial art’ such as jiu-jitsu.

Don’t worry; feeling like this is perfectly normal.

Even our most advanced students and coaches started off as complete beginners themselves so they know all to well how hard it can be to begin training and as such they will do their utmost to make you feel welcome, have a good time, help you with your technique and enjoy your training.

What to Expect?

This program may not be suited for every body. If you are looking to come in on your first day, throw down and spar with the more advanced students and wake up feeling like you got hit by a train then this program is definitely not for you.

If however, you’re not some maniac and like most normal people, the idea of walking into a martial arts gym might be a little intimidating or you just want to start things off slow; then our beginners program is definitely for you.

Over the course of 4 weeks students will go from absolutely zero Jiu-jitsu to being able to participate in our standard mixed class (if they choose to)

Students will learn the basic principles and techniques of BJJ in a fun and safe environment and slowly build up the skills and experience necessary to take their jiu-jitsu to the next level.

Classes will consist of beginner friendly techniques movements and principles ranging from, but not limited to;

Basic submissions, movements and principles,
falling safely, standing back up, managing distance, escaping and maintaining basic pins as well as controlling your breathing and staying calm (classes will also touch on some self defence techniques as well)

The lessons will run at a slower pace than our traditional classes ensuring you understand what is being taught. 

THERE WILL NE NO SPARRING AT THESE CLASSES

We Love BJJ

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is one of the fastest growing sports/ martial arts in the world, and for good reason! Extremely effective, unusually fun and somewhat addictive, it's not hard to see why!

we are lucky

Not everywhere in the world has the same quality or even the sheer quantity of jiu-jitsu that we seem to have in Ireland. Personally I attribute this to the large Brazilian population that lives in Ireland; bringing their culture and martial arts with them to create an environment where even in our local area there are numerous Jiu-Jitsu academies to train at. So you can be sure to find somewhere you enjoy training!
